The light was amazing and the shadows raked across the grass...very cool! I created this piece in Plein-Air for the Oceanside Museum of Art Plein-Air event this year. After studying it for a while I thought I could improve the overall impact of the late afternoon light. I spent about a half hour pushing the lights in the grasses and on the eucalyptus trees and then called it complete! So is it a Plein-Air piece?...no, not really, but not really a studio painting either. Paintings don't need to be either strictly Plein-Air nor Studio, they simply need to move the viewer and/or satisfy the painter. Hope you enjoy!
